Is the red tail hawk dangerous to humans?

While a red-tailed hawk can injure a human, attacks on people are extremely rare. If they feel threatened while on their nest, particularly from people who climb trees where there are nests, they may use their sharp talons as a defense mechanism to protect their eggs or young hatchlings.
