Is the African gray parrot endangered?

The IUCN lists the African gray parrot as an endangered species. Two of its subspecies are even more critically endangered:

* The Congo/Cameroon gray parrot or Congo red-tailed gray parrot (Psittacus erithacus erithacus), and

* The Timneh gray parrot (Psittacus erithacus timneh).

The decline in populations of African gray parrots is significant, with experts estimating a decline of 80-90% over the past 25 years.
