Why parrot is in green colour?

The bright green colour of parrots comes from the pigments psittacofulvins and turacoverdins. Psittacofulvins are pigments that are unique to parrots and are responsible for the yellow, orange and red colours. Turacoverdins are pigments that are found in other birds such as turacos and are responsible for the green and blue colours. The combination of these two pigments gives parrots their wide range of vibrant colours.
