How much does a red tailed hawk weigh?

Red-tailed hawks (Buteo jamaicensis) are variable in size, with the smallest subspecies, the Harlan's Hawk averaging about 937 grams, and the largest, the Northern Red-tailed Hawk averaging 1540 grams. Weight can vary considerably within a local population, and an adult female can be 25% larger than an adult male.
