How long do ostrich chicks stay with their parents?

Ostrich chicks hatch after about 42-45 days of incubation. After hatching, the chicks stay with their parents for about 9 months. During this time, the chicks are cared for and protected by their parents, who teach them how to find food and water and how to avoid predators. Once the chicks are 9 months old, they become independent and leave their parents.
