Can you own a pet barn owl in the UK?

It is illegal to keep a barn owl as a pet in the United Kingdom. Barn owls are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, which makes it an offense to intentionally kill, injure, or take a barn owl, or to possess or control a live or dead barn owl, or a part of a barn owl, without a license from the appropriate authorities.
