Why birds ever fall from the sky when they die?

It is a myth that birds fall from the sky when they die. They most often die while sitting on a perch or in their nests. However, birds that soar very high in the sky may still appear to fall from the sky when they die, but they are actually just descending and gliding down naturally after they perish.
