Birds are the only surviving members of the dinosaur lineage, and are considered to be the most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of all dinosaurs. Birds evolved from a group of theropod dinosaurs called paravians, and are closely related to modern-day reptiles such as lizards and snakes.
