Do particles make you hear sounds?

Sound travels in waves. When an sound is made, the waves cause particles in the area around to vibrate. These particles then vibrate other particles, and so on. Eventually, the vibrations reach your ears, where they are converted into electrical signals that are sent to your brain. Your brain interprets these signals as sound.
