What age do quail start laying eggs?

Quails reach sexual maturity and start laying eggs when they are between 6 and 8 weeks old, depending on the breed. Some breeds, such as the Bobwhite quail, may start laying eggs as early as 5 weeks old, while others, such as the Japanese quail, may take up to 10 weeks to start laying.
