Hatchlings are creamy white with a brown and yellow tinge, and immediately leave the nest to follow the mother. They grow a dark brown or grey plumage within a couple of weeks, which helps them camouflage from predators. Peachicks learn to fly within 3-4 months. As they grow older, male chicks will slowly start replacing their brown and grey feathers with vibrant and colourful plumage.
