Why does catnip only work on cats?

This is not entirely accurate. Catnip does not only work on cats. Although it is most well-known for its effects on cats, catnip can also affect other members of the feline family, including lions, tigers, and leopards. Additionally, some other species, such as bears, raccoons, and even some primates, have been known to exhibit similar responses to catnip.
