Why does cat allow dog to pick it up by back of neck?

Cats do not allow dogs to pick them up by the back of the neck. Cats have a very sensitive back and neck, and being picked up by the back of the neck can cause them a lot of pain and stress. Additionally, cats have a strong sense of independence and do not like being controlled or handled in a way that they feel is threatening or uncomfortable.
