How many eggs hatch from a praying mantid egg sack?

Praying mantid oothecae, or egg sacs, can contain anywhere from 10 to 400 eggs, depending on the species of praying mantis. Each ootheca is typically brown or tan in color and is about the size of a small pea. The eggs hatch in the spring or summer, after the weather has warmed up.
