How long do Pika babies stay with their mother?

American pika young typically wean when about 4–8 weeks old, they become independent of their mother at about 9–15 weeks, and become full adults around 7 months from parturition, but do not normally begin mating or defending territories against neighboring animals until the following spring (in their second calendar year).
