Do you need a Ph.D to be vet?

No, you do not need a Ph.D. to be a veterinarian.

To become a veterinarian, you need a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. This is a professional doctorate, similar to an MD for human doctors.

A Ph.D. is a research doctorate, and while some veterinarians may go on to pursue a Ph.D. to specialize in research, it is not required for clinical practice.
