Do Akita Inu dogs like to swim?

The Akita Inu is a breed of hunting dog that originated in Japan. Although they are not bred for retrieving waterfowl like some other dog breeds, many can swim. Some people even say they are strong enough to swim in the wild surf of the ocean.
