Why dont dogs have bellybuttons?

Puppies are born with a bellybutton, a scar left behind after the umbilical cord detaches and heals. However, in puppies, the bellybutton is usually very thin and can be hard to notice, especially if they have light-colored fur. It becomes less visible as the puppy grows.
