African wild dogs usually hunt medium-sized prey like gazelles, antelopes, wildebeest calves and young warthogs. Sometimes wild dogs target impala, which make up more than half their diet in certain areas or during a particular season. Wild dogs eat around 4.2 kg every time they kill large enough prey.
