How many kinds of lions are in Asia?

There is only one species or kind of lion found in Asia. They are known as Asiatic lions and are scientifically classified as Panthera leo persica. There used to be Asiatic lions in several parts of Asia, including North Africa and the Middle East. However, today they are only found in the Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary in Gujarat, India.
