How do antarctic penguins rest at sea?

While it's true that emperor penguins (Aptenodytes forsteri) breed during the harsh Antarctic winter, they do not 'swim away in a group and leave a few birds to watch'. While at sea, penguins can sleep while swimming by closing one eye at a time, allowing them to rest half of their brains.
