Where does Caribbean sand come from?

The majority of sand on Caribbean beaches is derived from eroded coral reefs and other marine organisms, such as shells and algae. As waves crash against the shore, they break down the coral and other materials into smaller and smaller pieces, eventually forming sand. Additionally, some of the sand on Caribbean beaches may be transported from elsewhere by ocean currents and winds.
