What are baby kangaroos called?

A baby kangaroo is called a joey. Joeys are born after a very short gestation period and are then carried around by their mothers in a pouch until they are fully developed. Once a joey is too big to be carried in the pouch, it will start to live outside the pouch but will still rely on its mother for food and protection.
