When did Mastodons live?

The Mastodon was an extinct genus of proboscidean mammal. Most species lived during the Pliocene and Pleistocene epochs. The earliest known species, __Mammut americanum__, lived from about 5.3 to 1.8 million years ago. The last known species, __Mammut pacificus__, became extinct about 11,700 years ago at the end of the Pleistocene epoch.
