How long does an egret live?

Egrets are a diverse group of birds, with different species having varying lifespans. However, as a general rule, most egrets live for around 15 to 20 years in the wild. Some species, such as the great egret (Ardea alba) and the snowy egret (Egretta thula), have been known to live for up to 25 years in captivity.
