Do cicadas crawl out of their shell twice?

Cicadas go through several life stages, but they only crawl out of their shell once during their final transformation from nymph to adult. While they experience multiple shedding of their exoskeleton during their nymphal stage, the emergence from the underground is the most significant and noticeable process.
