Can Maine coons be short haired?

Maine coons are a breed of cat that are typically long-haired. While it is possible for a Maine coon to be short-haired, this is not a common occurrence. Short-haired Maine coons are typically the result of a genetic mutation that prevents the cat from growing a full coat of fur. These cats are often referred to as "pixie-bobs" or "bobcats".
