How do wolves get rabies?

Rabies is a viral disease that is usually transmitted through the bite of an infected animal. Although several cases of rabies have been reported in wolves, wolves contract rabies from the same reservoir host species as other carnivores, such as:

- raccoons

- skunks

- foxes

- coyotes
