Specifically, baleen whales like the blue whale give birth to calves that are about 15-20 feet long, which is roughly the size of a small car! While this is enormous compared to most land animals, it's still only about 1/3 the size of an adult whale.
So, while a baby whale isn't exactly one inch long, it is still incredibly small compared to its parent.
