Are humans the most numerous animals on earth?

Humans are not the most numerous animals on Earth. Insects, especially ants and termites, far surpass humans in terms of population size. It's estimated that there are approximately 1 quadrillion (10^15) ants and perhaps an equal number of termites on the planet, compared to about 8 billion humans.
