Why are cows not shoed?

Cows hooves are made of a tough, durable material called keratin, the same material that makes up human fingernails and hair. Keratin is naturally strong and resistant to wear and tear, so cows do not need shoes to protect their feet. In addition, cows' hooves are constantly growing, so any damage or wear to the hoof will eventually be replaced with new, healthy growth.
