How have buffalo adapted to live in the north?

American Bison or Buffalo did not adapt to live in the far northern regions of North America. Their range once extended from Alaska and Canada to Mexico. Bison prefer the prairies and open grasslands to live in. Buffalo are not naturally adapted to northern environments.
