Is it true that ostriches have to constantly sit on their eggs?

This is a common misconception. While ostriches do bury their eggs in nests and take turns incubating them, they don't have to sit on them constantly. In fact, they often leave the nest to forage for food and will only come back to incubate the eggs for short periods of time.
