Where did mulberry rust come from?

The mulberry rust fungus, *Puccinia moricola*, is native to China and Japan. It was first reported in the United States in 2006, in a nursery in New Jersey. The fungus has since spread to other states in the eastern United States, as well as to Canada and Europe.
