What was the megalodons habitat?

Megalodon sharks once inhabited the tropical and subtropical coastal and open waters oceans throughout the entire world during the Neogene era (Miocene and Early Pliocene), but were probably most abundant in and around the Pacific region in warm, pelagic environments near shore and even within bays.
