Why sea otters get cold?

Sea otters do not get cold because of their extraordinarily dense fur. They have the thickest fur of any animal in the world, with up to 1 million hairs per square inch. This fur acts as a natural insulator, trapping air and keeping them warm even in the coldest of waters. In addition, sea otters have a thick layer of subcutaneous fat that provides further insulation.
