Precipitation that falls on land can take several paths. Some of it evaporates, some of it is absorbed by plants, and some of it infiltrates the ground. The water that infiltrates the ground can eventually make its way back to the surface through springs and seeps. This water can then flow into streams and rivers, which eventually empty into lakes and oceans.
