Why do catfish give live birth?

Catfish don't give live birth. They lay eggs.

While some catfish species are known for their parental care, they still reproduce through the traditional method of laying eggs.

Perhaps you're thinking of a different type of fish. Some fish, like guppies and mollies, are livebearers. This means the females give birth to live young instead of laying eggs.
