Do water moccosins exist in Maryland or Virginia?

Water moccasins (Agkistrodon piscivorus) are venomous snakes found in the southeastern United States, from North Carolina to Texas. Their range does not extend as far north as Maryland or Virginia.

The closest related species to the Water Moccasin that inhabits Virginia and Maryland is the Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix)
