How long does lantern sharks live?

The lifespan of a lantern shark ( Etmopterus spp. ) varies depending on the species. Some small species, such as the blackbelly lantern shark ( Etmopterus lucifer ), have been estimated to live for around 15-20 years, while larger species such as the velvet belly lantern shark ( Etmopterus spinax ) may have a lifespan of up to 30-40 years.
