How many young do the average fish have?

The number of offspring a single fish can produce varies greatly depending on the species. Some fish, such as the ocean sunfish, can release over 300 million eggs at once, while others, such as the Pacific salmon, may only produce a few thousand. On average, most fish species produce between 10 and 100 offspring per spawning.
