How long can a shark live out of water?

Most sharks cannot survive out of water. They need to be in water in order to breathe. There are a few species of shark that can survive for short periods of time out of water by gulping air or by using their spiracles to breathe. The longest recorded time a shark has survived out of water is just over 2 hours.
