What is a Pandaka Pigmy?

The Pandaka Pygmy or Mamanwa ("people of the river") are an indigenous people of the Philippines. They live in the provinces of Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan. They are primarily hunter-gatherers and practice swidden agriculture. The Pandaka Pygmy are one of the most disadvantaged groups in the Philippines and are often discriminated against.
