What did the Indians use appaloosa for?

Appaloosas were not used by Native American tribes. The Nez Perce tribe lived the closest to the areas Appaloosas were originally developed, and they bred Appaloosas to be ridden by their warriors when they would go to battle with other Native American tribes.
