What is being done to prevent extinction on eskimo curlew?

There is no Eskimo Curlew today, so preventing extinction is not possible. In 1898, the last verified individual of the Eskimo curlew was collected on a sand bar in Nebraska. Other potential sightings followed in the early 20th Century but none of these are generally accepted as valid by the international birding community.
