How much eggs do lice lay?

Head lice lay between six to eight eggs at a single time. Each of the eggs is cemented firmly to the base of the hair, 1/8 inch from the scalp. These nits are 0.8mm long and oval-shaped. These nits hatch in about 7–10 days, releasing nymphs that mature to adults within about 9–12 days.
