Where do guinea pigs organte from?

Guinea pigs originated in South America, specifically in the Andes Mountains of Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia. They were domesticated by the indigenous people of these regions for their meat and fur.

It's interesting to note that despite their name, guinea pigs are not from Guinea and aren't actually pigs!
