How many people die from hippopotamus?

According to a study published in the journal "Nature", hippopotamuses are responsible for more human deaths in Africa than any other large mammal, more than lions, elephants, and crocodiles combined. The study estimated that hippopotamuses kill an average of 500 people per year in Africa.
