Striped skunks (Mephitis mephitis) are small carnivorous mammals found in North America. Their body temperatures vary depending on the ambient temperature, but they typically maintain a body temperature of between 97.5°F (36.4°C) and 100.4°F (38°C). Striped skunks are able to conserve body heat by reducing their activity during cold weather, curling up into a ball, and using their bushy tail as insulation.
