How long have rhinos been around?

Rhinoceroses are some of the oldest surviving land mammals. They evolved around 50 million years ago, during the Eocene epoch. The first rhinos were small and pig-like, and most likely inhabited forests and woodlands. Over time, they evolved into the larger, more powerful animals we see today.
